Wow! You’re thinking of marriage. Congratulations! It’s an exciting and scary step of joining your life with another person. When you wake up each morning, he or she will be by your side. You’ll be a pair, a couple doing life together.
Here are few questions to consider:
- Whats your goal for your marriage?
- How will you handle your money together?
- How many children do you want to have?
- How will you discipline your children?
- When you have a conflict with one another, will you continue to respond with love and kindness?
(Questions and more questions.)
As you join your life with your marriage partner, then, as they say, the two shall become one. What this means is youll become united to make decisions together for your family. I call it, a win-win way of thinking.
What will be the best decision for both of you? You can’t always have your own way, but can you agree together what’s best for both of you and your family. In other words, can we worship the best idea or solution no matter who came up with it?
It’s easy to forget that your marriage is all about your relationship and get defensive and take things personal. If you do, your growing together takes a hit.
Heres a motto that helped me through the years to become a better father and husband– with my wife’s help.
I believe that Sandy loves me unconditionally and always has my best interest in her heart.
Every time I begin to get uptight about something she said to me, (in the beginning of our marriage, it seemed to be all the time), Id remember the promise I believed about my better half.
Husbands should realize their wife is usually helping and trying to fix their children, (they call it nurturing) and sometimes they do this with their husbands. If you
e not ready for this as a couple, it can cause tension in your relationship.
To protect your relationship is always the right thing to do.
Let me close by sharing a bumper sticker I saw. If a man speaks in the forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?
Until next time,
